Ok so before you look at these builds, bare in mind that they are not necessarily the most efficient or OP classes. It is more based on authenticity and role play, which is what sets it apart from the regular builds. If this is overlooked it kind of defeats the point of playing it in this style.
1. Macedonian Light Infantry -
Main weapon - N/A
Sidearm - Langes Messer (I would recommend with imperial, Toledo steel and also hollow grind)
Shield - Domed Shield
Armour - Mail Gambeson (standard colour)
Helmet - Sallet (no visor, in Black helm of vengence, with doevetail plume, arming cap)
COA - All black with the scorpion as the symbol Put the scorpion symbol in black as well, then you get the yellow outline which looks like the outline of a sun.
Historically the light infantry did start off by having a heavier armour, however over time many scrapped their armour in favour of a lighter and more flexible build. This class is a mobile one handed sword unit, designed to fight at close quarters with more mobility than the heavier spear/phalanx classes. They are effective at overhead swings or side swings, as this allows the more powerful Phalanx class behind them to pierce with their spears.
2. Macedonian Phalanx Unit -
Main weapon - Boar Spear or the Chiavarina (do not take Easter spear due to it being unique to the Romans and Egyptians on our builds)
Sidearm - Langes Messer (I would recommend with imperial, Toledo steel and also hollow grind)
Shield - Domed Shield
Armour - Almain Munitions Cuirass (Battle worn rusted brown)
Helmet - Bascinet (no visor, in Black helm of vengence, with doevetail plume, arming cap)
COA - All black with the scorpion as the symbol Put the scorpion symbol in black as well, then you get the yellow outline which looks like the outline of a sun.
The phalanx is actually a formation in which these spearmen or 'hypaspists' would take position. This class is a feared heavier spear unit, designed to fight in formation with a number of spears to prevent the enemy coming in close. In the WotR it will work in accordance with the light infantry as they will help them in a number of ways, such as doing overhead swings as to allow spear thrusts to penetrate the enemies armour etc.
3. Macedonian Mercenary Archer -
Main weapon - Any bow (standard or bleed ammo, no attachments to make the replenishment faster)
Historically Macedonians and Greeks did not look to favourably upon archers, therefor often hired mercenaries from regions known to produce archer units. The island of Crete was one such place which produced archers for them. Interestingly they were unusual in that they carried a shield and were adept at melee combat as well as ranged, which is why they were often hired. This class is designed not to be taken in large numbers, only recommended one person take it if their are 5+ in the group. It helps negate ranged threats whilst also picking off weak and vulnerable lone targets.
4. Macedonian Standard Bearer -
Main weapon - Chiavarina (do not take Easter spear due to it being unique to the Romans and Egyptians on our builds)
Sidearm - Langes Messer (I would recommend with imperial, Toledo steel and also hollow grind)
Shield - N/A
Armour - Almain Munitions Cuirass (Battle worn rusted brown)
Helmet - Armet (no visor, in polished noble silver, with crest shown in picture, arming cap)
COA - All black with the scorpion as the symbol Put the scorpion symbol in black as well, then you get the yellow outline which looks like the outline of a sun.
Unit is a stand out unit bearing the 'crest' of the Macedonians. Historically they had standard bearers, similar in every army although I am not sure how or if they fought. However with all of the different builds each faction/army will have one just because it looks cool!Lol. Only one person should really take this and only if there are enough people playing at the time.
5. Macedonian Companion Cavalry -
Main weapon - Boar spear or Chiavarina (do not take Easter spear due to it being unique to the Romans and Egyptians on our builds)
Sidearm - Langes Messer (I would recommend with imperial, Toledo steel and also hollow grind)
Shield - Domed Shield
Armour - Almain Munitions Cuirass (Battle worn rusted brown)
Helmet - Bascinet (no visor, in black helm of vengence, with dovetail plume, arming cap)
COA - All black with the scorpion as the symbol Put the scorpion symbol in black as well, then you get the yellow outline which looks like the outline of a sun.
The companion cavalry were one of the first known units to be classed as 'shock cavalry'. They were regarded as one of the finest mounted units at the time and were an invaluable asset to Alexander the Great. Their job on WotR is to give the enemy something to think about, rather than using the phalanx formation etc to defend points, these cavalry units can go on the offensive by charging enemies, thus giving the Macedonians more flexibility on the battlefield.
Conclusion:
I have tried to be as true to history as possible with these builds and also kept in mind that we want each faction to be unique in some way (hence why I think the Romans and Egyptians should be only ones to have the Easter Spear, for instance). Hopefully each group can have their own different stlye of tactics too, similarly to real historical armies! Would be pretty sweet if we could get it like that.
Anyway, these builds are really fun to play especially in large formations on game modes like conquest or assault. However bare in mind it is not a great class on its own and you'll likely get a bad score. It is essentially a small piece of the puzzle and it is all about teamplay and roleplay.
